Is it hot in here or is it just you? Well, actually it is you, but it's because you've had that laptop sitting on your sweaty thighs for the last half hour. Heat and sweat - not a good combo for a laptop - or your thighs.
Thing is, laptops get hot. There's a lot of processing power in those things - even the most modest laptops have more processing power than the Apollo ships that took us to the moon. Put simply, they get hotter than Megan Fox doing a strip tease. Too much heat and you get a laptop with a lifespan of a mayfly.
Oh, and I know how you use your laptop, and believe me, you're suffocating the years right out of it. You probably start out sort of "OK" with it sitting on your coffee table as you try to watch TV and work. And that's not too bad - you have some airflow, but really, more would be better. The math is easy - the more air you circulate, the less stress on the electronic components, and (follow me here), the longer your computer is gonna last. Good airflow, you gotta have good airflow. (Hmm.. And why do I suddenly have the urge to wear a kilt?)
